Enterococcus faecalis is a bacterium commonly found in the gastrointestinal track of mammals. It is a known cause of endocarditis, urinary track infections and septicaemia in humans. As well as one of the bacterial species with the growing resistance to Vancomycin - which is considered to be a last resort antibiotic to some life threatening conditions.
