The role of gut microbiota in Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction

Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction (CIPO) is characterized by obstructive bowel symptoms in the absence of a structural blockage. Little is known about the composition or role of the microbiota in CIPO. Our objectives were to characterize the microbiota in 2 CIPO cohorts from Canada and Italy and in healthy controls (HC), to investigate its contribution to disease expression using a humanized mouse model, and to assess the effect of fecal microbiota transfer (FMT).
