How meteorologica conditions influence on wildfires in Spain (2019-2023)

Wildfires represent one of the most significant environmental risks in Spain, particularly in regions characterized by a Mediterranean climate. Their occurrence, frequency, and intensity are strongly influenced by meteorological conditions such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind patterns. Understanding the relationship between weather conditions and wildfire activity is essential for improving prevention strategies, risk assessment, and environmental management. This dataset compiles wildfire detections in Spain between 2019 and 2023. Fire detection data were obtained from the MODIS satellite system operated by NASA, which provides global active fire observations. These records have been integrated with meteorological data from the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET). The resulting dataset has been processed and structured to ensure consistency, clarity, and usability. Data cleaning, formatting, and integration steps were carried out to create a well-documented dataset suitable for data analysis. The dataset enables researchers and analysts to explore potential relationships between wildfire occurrences and meteorological conditions across Spain during the 2019–2023 period.
