The first isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae carrying bla KPC-2 was detected in Uruguay in March, 2011 and sequenced by Illumina MiSeq technology. Phylogenetic analysis of the single nucleotide polymorphisms in the core genome identified that Kpn666 belonged to the previously described clade I lineage of the sequence type 258.
