During June 2016 KDK Archaeology undertook a Strip, Map and Sample excavation along with a Watching Brief on land at the rear of the Swan Inn, 36 High Street, Markyate, Hertfordshire, required as part of a planning application for the construction of a single storey extension to the rear of the function room. During the course of works several surfaces and wall stubs, primarily of brick construction were noted.
