Metadata for the Ulukhaktok Fish Tagging Project

This project uses telemetry studies and Traditional Knowledge to address and identify gaps of knowledge in coastal ecosystems in the western Canadian Arctic. Our ultimate goal is to answer fundamental questions on the behaviour and biology of coastal fishes that are key indicators of ecosystem change and important for Indigenous subsistence and commercial harvest. To date, the findings of this program have provided considerable insight on the seasonal home range of Greenland cod in relation to depth and temperature, and variation in movement dynamics on the marine coast among Arctic char from different overwintering habitats.
