Sulfurospirillum sp. JPD-1 was described as a tetrachloroethene-respiring organism, similar to Sulfurospirillum multivorans. Genome sequencing could aid in understanding the organohalide-respiratory chain of Epsilonproteobacteria and help to use these organisms in future bioremediation projects, as tetrachloroethene is an enironmental pollutant.
