Parkes observations for project P1197 semester 2023APRS_01

The association of pulsars and supernova remnants (SNR) has been an intriguing question even after decades of research. By comparing radio-band images with X-ray images, we have selected four SNR candidates in which an unresolved X-ray point source is present, suggesting the presence of a compact object, either a neutron star or a pulsar, associated with our candidate. We propose follow-up observations of these sources with Parkes/Murriyang to measure their periods, or determine whether they are a different class of objects. Finding the associated pulsar would allow us to give an estimate of the age and the distance at which the SNR is located.
