Molecular evolution of two endangered Mexican spruces

We used a Genotyping-by-sequencing approach to obtain genomic information on Picea martinezii and Picea mexicana, two endangered spruces distributed in Northern Mexico. DNA was digested using the PstI and MspI restriction enzymes to perform paired-end sequencing with an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 System. This genomic data, coupled with phenotypic trait measures, was analyzed to study the genomic and reproductive health of these spruce species in response to demographic collapse.
