Using an epithelial model membrane to investigate polyphenol-lipid interactions with neutron reflectometry

This study forms part of a current 4-year PhD studentship to develop an epithelial apical plasma membrane model to investigate the role the lipid composition has on biological activity and drug/nutrient absorption. The current proposal is crucial to provide data to complete the data series for the lipid-polyphenol interaction studies in conjunction with other complimentary techniques (QCM-D and ATR-FTIR) required for a high impact publication in a top tier journal. This is the final opportunity for this PhD project to gather neutron data on model membrane systems and to structurally characterise interaction with polyphenol neutraceutical compounds. This is vital for robust completion of the PhD project.
