Impact of the ketogenic diet on tumor growth and PDL1 expression in renal cell carcinoma

Ketogenic diet significantly reduced the renal tumor cell growth proliferation. It also slowed down the tumor growth of ACHN xenografts in CD1 nude mice. We finally observed that a change in intratumoral immunity was associated with PD-L1 overexpression on the surface tumors after KD. This dual effect of KD could be interesting in the management of patients with metastatic kidney cancer and further studies are needed to confirm its therapeutic benefit.
