In 2001, the City and the State signed the City of Art and History Convention, which accompanied the creation of the Remarkable Heritage Site, also created in 2001, in a strong approach to the protection and enhancement of heritage. The city now has 45 historic monuments and a listed site, the Barbieux Park. The Ministry of Culture, Directorate-General for Heritage, awards the City or Country of Art and History label to local and regional authorities which carry out activities to promote architecture and heritage.
