VPRS 11164 Register of Friendly Societies

This series contains a register of Friendly Societies established in 1855 (with the content dating back to 1847) and ending in 1991. In 1992, the function of the Registrar was taken over by the Victorian Financial Institutions Commission - the two remaining volumes for this series are currently in their custody.The Register was used to allocate the registration number to each Friendly Society upon its registration. The files containing the registration documents are located in VPRS 284.The Register provides information related to the date of initial registration of the rules and their subsequent amendments. Some also give a list of names of the Trustees.
