Mesorhizobia isolated from root nodules of legumes collected from northern Canada

The goal of this study was to look for genomic adaptations of naturally cold-adapted rhizobia that may facilitate improved nodulation and nitrogen fixation in low temperature climates. To accomplish this, we isolated and sequenced three Mesorhizobium strains from the nodules of legumes growing in northern Canada, and used comparative genomics to compare their genomes to other publicly available Mesorhizobium genomes.
