Macquarie perch population genomics

The Macquarie perch, is an endangered freshwater fish threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation. Formerly a widespread and common Australian fish, it currently persists in small, isolated populations. Most populations have low levels of genetic diversity that put them at risk of extinction. In order to reverse population declines, genetic rescue was recommended through translocations. This umbrella project uses genetic data to develop and monitor strategies for genetic management for long-term persistence.
