Cross shelf exchange in the Iberian and Canaries upwelling ecosystems

CAIBEX has collected inter-disciplinary data on ocean circulation, hydrography, water column biogeochemistry and octopus life cycle with monthly monitoring cruises over an annual cycle 2009 in two upwelling zones: Cabo Silleiro, Galicia and Cap Ghir, Morocco. In summer 2009, two intensive three week studies of the upwelling regime were carried out both two zones, within the context of a large scale survey CAIBOX defined roughly by 42ºN, 20ºW and 28ºN. A mixture of survey, time series and Lagrangian observations were carried out. Cruise reports and data summaries will be available through the project web site.
