Rapid emergence of transcriptional heterogeneity upon molecular stress predisposes cells to two distinct states of senescence

We used single-cell RNA-sequencing to characterize different types of senescent cells that arise upon oxidative stress IMR-90 fibroblasts were induced into senescence via oxidative stress. Transcriptional states of individual senescent cells were analyzed via SPLIT-seq method.
