Epilepsy in the South Australian Lunatic Asylums (c.1850-1914)

The South Australian Epilepsy Data was compiled from information available at the State Records of South Australia (https://www.archives.sa.gov.au/). Archives relating to the South Australian lunatic asylums (c.1850-1914) were searched, and any that mentioned the words 'epilepsy' or 'epileptic' were photographed and most of the data extracted into an Excel spreadsheet. There are 634 cases in the spreadsheet, and around 565 unique patients (due to multiple admissions). The patient names are de-identified. Given names are provided in full, but surnames only include the first letter. The data was used as part of a Masters of Philosophy, in the Discipline of History.
