HISTOLOGICAL CHANGES IN THE LIVER UNDER CONDITIONS OF CHRONIC TOXIC INJURY

The liver is one of the principal organs involved in metabolism, detoxification, and maintenance of internal homeostasis. Due to its central role in the biotransformation of endogenous and exogenous compounds, hepatic tissue is highly vulnerable to chronic toxic exposure. Prolonged influence of hepatotoxic substances may lead to progressive structural changes ranging from reversible cellular degeneration to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and irreversible impairment of liver function. The aim of this thesis was to analyze the main histological changes occurring in the liver under conditions of chronic toxic injury and to evaluate their morphological significance.
