Gender Politics of the Far Right in Germany - A Feminist Analysis

The German far right has intensified efforts to undermine women’s and LGBTQI+ rights, while claiming to enhance safety for women. This thesis examines how and why they employ gender politics and how gender politics shape efforts to counter and prevent the far right. The thesis argues that gender politics in the far right are multidimensional: ideological, structural, discursive and preventive. It reveals the specific gendered power relations that shape the far right’s online network, how gender politics function as a flexible tool, and it emphasises the challenges that persist in efforts to counter far-right gender politics.
