Categories of Gen-AI Use Sample Quotes and Supporting Evidence

This file provides supplementary qualitative evidence supporting the categorization of generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) use in collaborative academic writing. It presents the Gen-AI use categories identified in the study, together with illustrative quotations from participants’ reflections and corresponding examples from their group writing documents. Gen-AI uses are organized into two broader categories: Surface and Complex.
