VPRS 9699 Unserialised Records

This series consisted of a range of records that had been transferred to PROV as a result of the sale of the Grain Elevators Board to a company called VicGrain. VicGrain, in turn, was merged with GrainCorp, it's privatised New South Wales equivalent, during 2000.All of the records of the Grain Elevators Board that were transferred to PROV in this series constituted the records that were to remain in state hands after the sale, meeting the requirements for the handover of records provided for in the sale of Business and Shares Agreement that was published as Schedule 1 to the Handling and Storage Act (No 45 of 1995), the Act that provided for the sale of the GEB.The records that were transferred can be broadly described as being of two types. These were:- records that had been identified by PROV as warranted their permanent retention as part of the State's archives collection, and- records not warranting permanent retention but which needed to be retained for varying lengths of time until these could be legally destroyed under the Public Records Act.This series thus, included a variety of administrative, financial and operational records including: ledgers, invoices and vouchers, grain handling sheets, grain stock records, internal audit and budget working papers, human resource files, departmental and regional general correspondence, data processing manuals and input sheets. No personnel records were included in these records.
