This DNA methylation dataset describes epigenomic changes in in vitro serially passaged primary and immortalized astrocytes, in the context of studies examining cellular aging patterns that are conserved in vivo and in vitro. Primary and fetal hTERT-immortalized astrocytes were grown under normoxic conditions and serially passaged. Longitudinal DNA samples were collected throughout passaging and DNA methylation was measured using the Infinium HumanMethylation850 BeadChip. Primary and fetal hTERT-immortalized astrocytes were cultured and exhaustively passaged in triplicate, both derived from sinlge donors. DNA extraction of primary astrocytes (Creative Biolabs, male) ranged from passage 2 to 10 and fetal hTERT-immortalized astrocytes (Applied Biological Materials, unknown gender) from 12 to 27 (total n= 25 and 45 respectively). Bisulphite converted DNA from samples were hybridised to the Illumina Infinium HumanMethylationEPIC BeadChip.
