Explanations of leisure travel must account for people’s social contacts. To analyze this influence, transport planning employs the methods of social network analysis. While earlier projects focused on isolated personal network components, this survey study collected data on connected personal networks by taking a snowball sample. The dataset includes information on the respondents’ characteristics (e.g. their sociodemographics and their mobility biography) on their social contacts’ characteristics (e.g. their socio-demographics) on the relationship between respondents and the social contacts (e.g. in which context and when they met first and how they stay in contact), and on the relationship the social contacts have amongst each other. Directly surveyed information are accompanied by variables which were calculated indirectly. Most of these information are related to people’s social networks (e.g. how dense thesenetworks are or how central the actors are). In addition to information on personal networks the dataset includes information on the population-wide Swiss leisure network.
