Draft Mitochondrial Genome of Labeo rohita from Halda river, Bangladesh

The Halda River is considered as a unique river because it's the only river in Bangladesh from where fertilized eggs of Indian major carps are collected. Labeo rohita, commonly known as Rohu, belongs to the Cyprinidae family. Due to its fast growing nature, test, quality, and availability it's on the top list of consumer preference in Bangladesh. The genome sequencing of pure wild Rohu of Halda River will provide valuable information on genome organization, evolutionary divergence, conservation and overall endemic diversity. The aim of this project is to identify some important genes related to a particular trait such as those associated with adaptation, breeding and evolution. The data will help to explore evolutionary relationships with closely related species and also aid in conserving this wild pure Rohu population of Halda River.
