Transcriptomic responses to psychosocial stress in vervet monkey (Chlorocebus sabaeus)

To identify genes involved in responses to psychosocial stressor, we analysed RNAseq transcriptomic profiles in whole blood of 15 juvenile male vervet monkeys from the Caribbean island of St. Kitts at three experimental time points: day 0 (baseline), day 3 and day 5 of exposure to the stressor. Overall design: We analysed one sample (total blood RNA) per animal at each of the three experimental time points: Tp1 (day 0), Tp2 (day 3), Tp4 (day15). Total blood RNA was extracted from PaxGene Blood RNA tubes (Preanalytix) using PAXgene Blood RNA Kit (Qiagen). For cDNA library creation, we used TruSeq Stranded RNA protocol using 100 ng of RNA with RiboZero and Globin treatment (Illumina). We generated 120 bp-long paired-end sequencing reads using high output flow cell lines on HiSeq 4000 sequencer (Illumina).
