Unrestricted The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of a standards-based intervention, Explicit Direct Instruction, on the academic achievement of English Language Learners on the English Language Arts portion of the California Standards Test (CST). The Explicit Direction Instruction treatment was administered in an experimental school and pre and post intervention measures were used to access growth in the experimental school. A quasi-experimental design using a similar school as a comparison also was used.
