Permanent Parental Income Dataset, 1958-1974

The dataset was derived from childhood waves of the 'National Child Development Study' (NCDS - available from UKDA under GN 33004), during the course of a project funded by the ESRC's <i>Health Variations Programme</i>, titled 'Income Dynamics and Health Inequalities'. One of the major aims of this project was to explore the role of income in generating health inequalities within a life course perspective. The influence of family income in childhood on later health outcomes, therefore became one of the central focuses of the study.<br> <br> For the second edition (August 2008), the serial number has been replaced with a new one, variable Ncdsid.
