POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR AZ T:12:413(ASM), ROESER HACIENDAS DATA RECOVERY, ARIZONA

Site AZ T:12:413(ASM) contains evidence of occupation during at least the Pioneer, Sedentary, and Classic periods. Ceramics, which were primarily plainware, did not provide good temporal resolution. The area probably was used for farming and related activities over a period of centuries. Pollen samples were collected from a variety of locations at this site, and samples were selected for analysis from the Pioneer, Sedentary, and Classic periods. The samples represent a variety of protein in foods including field house floors, a sub rectangular pit house, two hearths, and in extramural roasting pit. Research issues that might be addressed through pollen analysis include describing the local environment, questions concerning water control features, identification of subsistence activities at this site and what resources were exploited, distribution of evidence for floral processing, and the possibility to address evidence for processing both native plants and agricultural products.
