Palynofacies and XRF geochemical data from the Colorado-1 well, Lake Izabal Basin, Guatemala

This dataset contains palynofacies and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) geochemical data from the Colorado-1 well, Lake Izabal Basin, eastern Guatemala. The data were generated as part of a multi-proxy study reconstructing depositional dynamics and hydroclimatic change during the late Miocene to Pliocene (approximately 9.2–3.4 Ma) in western Central America.
The palynofacies dataset includes percentage counts of particulate organic matter components, structured phytoclasts, degraded phytoclasts, opaque phytoclasts, amorphous organic matter, pollen, spores, fungal remains, and algae from 65 samples analyzed at approximately 10 m intervals across the 550–1,200 m depth interval of the well. The XRF geochemical dataset includes elemental concentrations of Si, Al, Ti, K, Ca, Fe, Sr, Rb, Zr, and S from 128 samples analyzed at 3 m intervals across the same depth interval, acquired using a Rigaku Supermini 200 Wavelength Dispersive XRF spectrometer at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
