Temperature distribution in an operating weighing station of the road network: Data from an experimental measurement campaign during winter 2023-2024

Weighing stations consist of a pit, where the weighing equipment is located, and slabs at ground level, on which the trucks are driven during the weighing process. During winter, snow and ice accumulation on weighing slab surfaces and the freezing of the weighing equipment could be detrimental to the operations. Therefore, the pit of weighing stations needs to be heated during winter, which contributes to snow melting and the protection of weighing equipment. This results in significant energy consumption.

This dataset contains temperature values measured in the pit of a heated weighing station of the road network in Quebec City (Quebec, Canada). The experimental data were collected from December 21, 2023, until March 5, 2024. This dataset includes :
a) Readme file explaining how data were collected and how to use them;
b) Excel file with temperature values at 87 different locations inside the pit, measured every two minutes, allowing the reconstruction of the 3D temperature profile;
c) Pictures of the system.
