资源简介:
This collection comprises data from geophysical surveys, GIS (raster), images, and supporting documents, from an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching at Rockingham Forest Park, Kings Cliffe, Northamptonshire. Work was carried out by MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) Northampton, in advance of the proposed Phase 2 construction of lodge park facilities. The evaluation uncovered a series of linear features, a number of furrows, two undated, possible tree throw pits were also recorded. The work made minor contributions to Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval objectives in the relevant research framework. The geophysical survey found ditches, historic boundaries, remnants of medieval to early post-medieval ridge and furrow. The sparse and apparently fragmented nature of these remains may reflect the extent to which the site was disturbed in the 1940s, during the construction and maintenance of RAF King's Cliffe.
