资源简介:
To investigate the environmental and hydrologic setting of the much visited and photographed human-induced Fly Geyser, an Applied Geophysics class will conduct seismic reflection, refraction, ReMi, and deep ReMi surveys of Hualapai Playa, adjacent to the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada. The area is owned by the Burning Man arts and cultural foundation, and they desire that participants and artists develop a deeper understanding of the geyser, including its geological and hydrological underpinnings. The PASSCAL equipment will also be used on the UNR campus in Reno, to train the class. All data from both the campus and the playa will be made openly available as soon as it can be formatted for archiving. The Geometrics multichannel recorder and seismic cables included in this request are already being loaned to Prof. Breitmeyer at UNR, so shipping those items from PASSCAL is not necessary from our perspective.
