The Uncertainties of Efficiency: Dataset from the Energy Modelling and Life Cycle Assessment of Curtain Wall Retrofit Scenarios in Brussels

This dataset provides supplementary materials to the article “The Uncertainties of Efficiency: Energy Modelling and Life Cycle Assessment of Curtain Wall Retrofit Scenarios in Brussels.” It is organised around a file (BEM_LCA_Hypotheses.xlsx), two folders (“lci” and “EnergyPlus”) and two scripts written in Python: BEM.ipynb and LCA.ipynb. The first script (BEM.ipynb) is used to conduct the building energy simulations according to the different scenarios defined in the related article. It relies on EnergyPlus (open source) and exports in the outputs folder the main results concerning the building energy use. This information is then added to the life cycle inventory to model the use phase. The second script (LCA.ipynb) is used to conduct the LCIA. It relies on Brightway2 (open source) to assess the different scenarios, conduct uncertainty analysis, sensitivity analysis, and display the graphs and tables shown in the article.
