The data used in this study were collected through field observations carried out in the Dongsha region of the South China Sea from August 16 to August 31 (~16 days). An in-situ observation quadripod for bottom boundary layer in abyssal sea developed by the our research team was deployed at the site (117°31E, 21°12N), with a water depth of approximately 720 m, to observe the hydrodynamics and sand ripples. The observation quadripod was instrumented with a 75 kHz Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), a 6 MHz Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV), a high-precision pressure sensor, and a deep-sea camera.
