资源简介:
This dataset is part of the Canadian Archipelago Throughflow Study (CATS), a coordinated, multi-investigator program whose goal is to understand and estimate flow through the main passages of the Canadian Archipelago, including Nares Strait and Jones Sound, Barrow Strait, the downstream flow through Davis Strait and circulation and water-mass properties in the upstream Arctic source region. This freshwater export can have global implications, as it enters the North Atlantic precisely in the regions where deep North Atlantic waters are formed, in the Nordic and Labrador Seas. During 2003-06, The Canadian Archipelago Throughflow Study, as a part of the Arctic Sub-Arctic Ocean Flux (ASOF) experiment, deployed an array of ocean-sensing instruments at 80.5N latitude to investigate the flux of seawater from the Arctic Ocean via Nares Strait, the pathway to the west of Greenland. Additionally, data was gathered from a Healy cruise through the region. This data set contains Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) data from both the United States Coast Guard Cutter HEALY (USCGC Healy) and moorings in the Nares Strait. Healy data is from the 2003 July cruise. Mooring data covers 2003-2006. All data files are ASCII text with detailed header information. All documentation files are PDF.
