A Dataset of 352 Nuclear Genes for Accurate Species Identification and Geographical Origin Traceability of Rhododendron dauricum L.

Rhododendron dauricum L. is an ecologically and economically important species within the genus Rhododendron. In this study, based on whole genome sequencing data, we assembled a high-quality dataset comprising 352 nuclear genes from 14 R. dauricum samples collected from seven distinct geographical populations in Northeast China, along with sequence data of 29 other Rhododendron species downloaded from the NCBI public database. Using the universal set of 353 angiosperm nuclear genes as reference, all genes were successfully assembled with the HybPiper pipeline except one (A0A2I0A0S6). This dataset contains the raw sequences directly assembled from whole genome sequencing data. Phylogenetic trees constructed using this dataset effectively differentiate R. dauricum populations from various geographical origins, with individuals from the same population clustering closely together. These findings demonstrate that this dataset provides high-resolution molecular markers for tracing the geographical origin of R. dauricum.
