Impressions of Feeling AI and Willingness to Disclose Personal Information

This dataset is based on a survey that examined public perceptions of generative AI and individuals’ willingness to disclose personal information to such AI. The survey was conducted online using Depth X by GMO from April 16 to 18, 2025, with participation from 371 respondents.To assess impressions of generative AI, data were collected for eight variables: emotion recognition, emotion understanding, empathy, autonomy, experiential capacity, intimacy with AI, anthropomorphism of AI, and trust in AI. Given their varying levels of familiarity with generative AI, participants were asked to read a case scenario describing an AI with emotional capabilities before reassessing their impressions of the AI.Regarding information disclosure, six variables were examined: health conditions and physical insecurities, abilities and skills, location and behavioral data, browsing and purchase history, positive emotions, and negative emotions. Responses were measured using a 7-point Likert scale.Following the case reading, the AI (leveraging functionality within Depth X by GMO) posed two further follow-up questions to each respondent based on their initial textual responses.Demographic data, including gender and age, were also collected for analysis.
