资源简介:
This data supports an empirical research on the gendered dimensions of small-scale fishing activities on the South coast of Kenya. In this research, we applied a mixed method approach, combining an individual survey (n=141) and pebble games (n=35). The data originating from both methods are provided in this dataset, with their metadata. Results from our study indicate that women’s fishing practices are characterized by less fishing gear, less catch, a lower functional diversity of catches, less fishing effort, and less income than those of men but they contribute importantly to local diets, representing up to 50% of the fish and seafood consumed in female-headed households.
