With the support of the National Key R&D Program (Miniaturized Heavy Ion Therapy Device Project), this study aims to present the design and engineering validation of a novel heavy ion gantry incorporating superconducting magnets. The gantry was based on arc-shaped composite superconducting magnets and engineered to achieve a rotation radius of 5.9 meters and a total weight of 165 tons. The beam design, structural design and engineering prototype test of this gantry were described in detail. In addition, the nozzle system was optimized to meet the therapeutic needs of multiple ions (carbon, proton, helium and oxygen).
