Share of adults volunteering in England 2005-2020

This statistic presents the proportion of adults who volunteered in England from 2005 to 2020. In 2019/20 around 32.4 percent of respondents participated in some form of voluntary work. In each annual survey before the 2016/17 survey, around a quarter of respondents had volunteered over the previous year. In 2016/17, this increased to 32.9 percent and decreased again in 2017/18 to 29.2 percent.
