Biodiversity genomics of the European Alpine Flora by means of genome skimming

We built on an intensive inventory and sampling of nearly all vascular plant species occurring in the Alps (PhyloAlps project), a biodiversity hotspot harbouring 20% of the European Flora. This project generated raw data of 5628 samples of 5049 plant species from the Alps and other mountain ranges in Europe. These data were used to generate a dataset of 81 orthologous chloroplast loci, including all standard barcodes, and to infer a species-resolved phylogeny. Along with those of similar projects, this project provides a reference dataset about the evolutionary history of the alpine flora, fur further studies of phylogenetics, systematics, conservation and metabarcoding of the Alpine Flora.
