VPRS 1144 Register of General Accounts

The Central Roads Board, the first agency concerned with the construction and maintenance of main roads and bridges, was abolished on 1 January 1858 and succeeded by the Department of Roads and Bridges (VA 2964) which operated under the statutory control of the Board of Land and Works (VA 744).This series consists of volumes registering the payments of accounts presented. These payments included those for contracts, for the administration of the department and for salaries. Details included dates of registry, publication in the Government gazette with respect to contracts, the authority number (for details of authorities see VPRS 1109 Register of Authorities), the name of the claimant and the amount.VPRS 1144/P was reserialised in 2001 as part of the ARAD Project. The former unit 6 has been reserialised as VPRS 12684/P1 unit 1.
