Hudson Estuary Documented SAV Habitat

This dataset documents areas where SAV has been known to occur and thereby considered acceptable habitats. SAV is an important habitat and site of primary production in many aquatic ecosystems. Prior to 1995 there was no baseline information on SAV extent or distribution in the tidal freshwater Hudson River or any information on how the extent of SAV is changing with time in the Hudson River Estuary. The 2022 mapping project is a continuation of the 1997, 2002, 2007, 2014, 2016, and 2022 SAV monitoring efforts. The current SAV mapping was conducted in order to determine the status of the resource in 2022, and to compare the extent of SAV in 2022 with that observed in 2018. This dataset is a derivative of the 2022, 2018, 2016, 2014, 2007, 2002, and 1997 datasets.
