This series consists of the master reference set of source books (business papers and attachments) and the Notice of Motion Register for the meetings of the University Council of the University of New England (UNE) during the years 1954-1989 inclusive. The business paper and attachments for the meetings are all typed and arranged in chronological order. For each meeting the business paper are first, followed by the attachments. The business paper outlined the format that the meetings followed and the matters that were to be addressed. The business papers document the recommendations made for decisions and resolutions made by the University Council. The attachments gave members attending the meeting extra information pertaining to the topics for discussion on the agenda. They include reports and minutes from university committees and other bodies reporting to Council, significant items of correspondence; government documents having some bearing on the University's operations; planning documents, and proposals intended to assist Council in its deliberations.
