As plastic pollution escalates, nanoplastics have become widespread in aquatic ecosystems, raising growing concerns about their detrimental effects on aquatic life. Nannochloropsis oceanica, a significant marine microalga, plays a crucial role in marine ecosystems and shows great potential for biotechnological uses. This study seeks to explore how different concentrations of nanoplastics affect lipid metabolism in Nannochloropsis oceanica, with the goal of understanding the alterations in lipid synthesis, breakdown, and transport within the microalgal cells when exposed to nanoplastics.
