A method of making a carbon fiber from a paper product is disclosed. This process comprises preparing a cellulose-based fiber， by grinding the paper product， dissolving the obtained ground material in a solvent solution to form a spinning solution， and forming a continuous cellulose-based fiber by a process. solvent-based spinning. The cellulose fiber thus formed is subjected to a carbonization treatment to form a carbon fiber.
