one-time sampling ################ Beech leaves were collected on all patches in 2023 and in a stratified design: on each patch, three trees from the canopy layer and three from the understory layer were randomly selected. Two branches were collected from each tree using a slingshot. From each branch, seven leaves were randomly collected. In total, 84 leaves were sampled on each patch.
