Elevation of groundwater (DP1.20100.001)

NEON measurements of groundwater elevation at high temporal resolution informs important linkages and feedbacks between groundwater and surface water in streams, rivers, and lakes. Three to eight wells are installed in the unconfined groundwater layer at most aquatic sites. Wells are located both bear and far from the surface water sensors to facilitate studies of groundwater-surface water interactions and groundwater flow. This data product contains continuous, quality-controlled, groundwater pressure converted to elevation above mean sea level. Measurements are captured every five minutes and reported as 5-minute instantaneous measurements and 30-minute averages.
