World Bank Group Country Survey 2021 - Maldives

Abstract

The Country Opinion Survey in Maldives assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in gaining a better understanding of how stakeholders in Maldives perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in Maldives on 1) their views regarding the general environment in Maldives; 2) their overall attitudes toward the WBG in Maldives; 3) overall impressions of the WBG’s effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in Maldives; and 4) their perceptions of the WBG’s future role in Maldives.

From February 2021 to March 2021, 378 stakeholders of the WBG in Maldives were invited to provide their opinions on the WBG’s work in the country by participating in a Country Opinion Survey. Participants were drawn from the office of the President; the parliament; ministries/ministerial departments/implementation agencies; Project Management Units (PMUs) overseeing implementation of WBG projects; consultants/contractors working on WBG-supported projects/programs; local governments; independent government institutions; the judicial system; state-owned enterprises; bilateral and multilateral agencies; private sector organizations; the financial sector/private banks; private foundations; NGOs and community based organizations; trade unions; religious groups; youth groups; academia/research institutes/think tanks; the media; and other organizations.
